The HARVEY TOOL 22687 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed to mill semicircular keyseats into shafts and mating components. With a 0.5-inch cutter diameter and 0.375-inch cutting width, it produces accurate Woodruff key slots in a single pass. The straight-tooth configuration and uncoated bright finish make it well-suited for controlled cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 0.5-inch shank provides solid tool holder engagement, and the 3.0-inch overall length gives adequate reach for typical shaft applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this cutter in manual mills and CNC machining centers where keyseat precision is critical.
This cutter is intended for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a standard choice for job shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production environments where Woodruff keyseats are required on power transmission shafts, spindles, and similar components. The 0.25-inch neck diameter and 0.75-inch neck length allow the cutter to reach recessed keyseat positions without interference from the shank body.
Designed as an OEM-style keyseat cutter for use in standard 0.5-inch straight shank tool holders on vertical mills, knee mills, and CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Secondary workpiece materials include non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
This cutter is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in a standard straight shank or Weldon-style end mill holder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before mounting. Verify runout after tool installation to maintain keyseat tolerance. Follow all applicable machine shop safety practices and equipment manufacturer guidelines during setup and operation.
