The HARVEY TOOL 22350-C3 is a solid carbide Woodruff keyseat cutter designed for milling semicircular keyseats into shafts and mating components. It features a 0.25-inch cutting diameter with a 0.05-inch cutting width, allowing precise slot profiles sized to Woodruff key standards. The straight-tooth configuration produces clean, controlled cuts, while the AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With a 1/4-inch shank diameter and a 2.5-inch overall length, this cutter mounts directly in standard collet chucks or end mill holders on vertical machining centers and manual mills alike. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for repeatable keyseat depth and width control.
The 22350-C3 is suited for keyseat operations in precision shaft work across general machining, toolroom, and production environments. It performs in a range of workpiece materials including alloy steels, stainless steels, cast iron, and aluminum where accurate key slot geometry is required. The six-flute straight-tooth design keeps cutting forces balanced during climb and conventional milling passes, reducing deflection on slender shaft diameters. This cutter is a single-piece solid carbide construction with no brazed joints, making it well suited for higher-speed operations where brazed tools may fail.
Designed as an OEM-style Woodruff keyseat cutter for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC lathes with live tooling that accept a 1/4-inch shank diameter via collet or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder to the recommended grip depth before torquing the drawbar or collet nut. Verify spindle runout before cutting, as excessive runout will cause uneven tooth load and accelerated wear on a narrow-width keyseat cutter. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting depths of cut and feed rates.
