The HARVEY TOOL 20160-C3 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in tight-tolerance applications. It carries a wire gauge size of 78, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.0160 inches, and features a 130-degree split or conventional point angle suited for accurate entry and reduced walking on hard materials. The AlTiN coating improves surface hardness and heat resistance, making this bit effective in ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Right-hand spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in miniature bore applications. This bit is used by machinists, toolmakers, and precision fabricators working in CNC drilling centers or manual spindles requiring sub-0.020-inch hole diameters.
This drill bit is part of the Harvey Tool Miniature Drills series, intended for small-hole drilling in materials including hardened steels, stainless alloys, titanium, and other difficult-to-machine metals where standard HSS tooling falls short. Typical applications include PCB fabrication fixtures, watch and instrument components, medical device components, and precision mold work. The 1/8-inch shank diameter makes it compatible with standard collet chucks and drill chucks commonly found on CNC machining centers and precision bench-top drill presses.
Designed as a miniature series replacement drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, precision drill presses, and any spindle equipped with a collet or chuck accepting a 1/8-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully and concentrically in the collet or chuck to minimize runout, which is critical at this diameter. At micro drill diameters, excessive feed rates or misalignment will result in immediate tool breakage — verify spindle speed and feed parameters against the tool manufacturer recommendations before cycling.
