The HARVEY TOOL 18645 is a solid carbide chamfer mill designed for precision chamfering, deburring, and edge-breaking operations on a variety of workpiece materials. With a 1/2 inch cutter head diameter, 4-flute construction, and a 90-degree included angle with a double end configuration, this tool delivers clean, consistent chamfer profiles in demanding machining environments. The bright/uncoated finish makes it well-suited for use on non-ferrous metals and plastics where coating adhesion is not required. Machinists and CNC operators rely on this style of chamfer mill for high-accuracy work where surface finish and edge geometry are critical.
This chamfer mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills requiring precise edge chamfering. The right-hand cutting direction and 1/2 inch shank diameter allow direct collet or end mill holder mounting in standard spindle setups. With a 3 inch overall length, it provides adequate reach for most standard fixturing configurations without excessive overhang. Applications include chamfering through-holes, spotting, and countersinking operations on aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch collets, end mill holders, or shrink-fit toolholders on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. Suited for shops requiring OEM-style solid carbide chamfer mills in common fractional shank sizes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer's tooling guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is in a safe state before mounting or removing tooling. Secure the shank in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified clamping torque for that holder type. Verify runout with a dial indicator before running at full speed to avoid premature tool wear or part damage.
