The HARVEY TOOL 16732-C3 is a solid carbide dovetail cutter designed for milling angled undercut slots and dovetail features in a wide range of workpiece materials. It cuts at a 60-degree included angle with a 0.5-inch cutter diameter and a 0.25-inch cutting width. The 3-flute geometry provides a balance of chip clearance and surface finish quality. A Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) coating improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. This cutter is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in manual and CNC milling operations.
This dovetail cutter is suited for producing dovetail slots and angular undercuts in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and composites. The 1/2-inch shank diameter fits standard milling machine collets and end mill holders. Its compact 3-inch overall length makes it practical for short-reach applications on vertical and horizontal milling centers. It is intended for use in both job shop and production environments where repeatable dovetail geometry is required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 1/2-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with rotating cutting tool setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the cutter. Seat the shank fully in a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and confirm correct feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material before operation.
