The HARVEY TOOL 15440 is a solid carbide drill mill designed for multi-operation machining where a single tool must drill, chamfer, and end mill in one setup. Built with a 60-degree point angle and four flutes, it transitions cleanly between drilling and milling passes without a tool change. The 5/8-inch cutting diameter and 1.25-inch length of cut make it well suited for moderate-depth work in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The uncoated bright finish is appropriate for aluminum and other non-ferrous applications or where coolant-based lubrication handles chip and heat management. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers use this style of tool to reduce cycle time on multi-feature parts.
This drill mill is used in both job-shop and production environments where machining centers or CNC mills perform drilling and peripheral milling in a single operation. It is suited for workpieces that require angled entry, spot drilling, and flat-bottom or contoured milling in the same program cycle. The 5/8-inch shank diameter matches standard ER or end mill holders commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is appropriate for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and plastics when feeds and speeds are selected to match material hardness and the uncoated substrate.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide drill mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 5/8-inch end mill or collet-style tool holders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before loading the tool into the holder. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after tightening to minimize premature edge wear. Select feeds and speeds per the material being machined and verify depth-of-cut parameters before running the first cycle, as solid carbide tooling is sensitive to deflection and incorrect chip load.
