The HARVEY TOOL 14620-C4 is a 2-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC machining and manual milling applications. It features a 5/16-inch cutter diameter, a 5/8-inch length of cut, and a 2-1/2-inch overall length. The tool carries an amorphous diamond coating, which significantly increases surface hardness and reduces friction, making it well suited for cutting abrasive non-metallic materials such as graphite, carbon fiber, fiberglass, and composites. The 0-degree helix and non-centercutting geometry reflect a design optimized for side milling and slotting in these demanding materials.
This end mill is intended for use in production and job-shop machining environments where abrasive composite or non-ferrous materials are regularly encountered. The 5/16-inch shank diameter allows direct collet chuck mounting in standard toolholding systems. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is a single-end tool sold individually and is most commonly installed by machinists and CNC programmers working with advanced materials that accelerate tool wear on uncoated carbide.
Designed for use in standard collet-style toolholding systems accepting a 5/16-inch shank diameter. Best suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills cutting graphite, carbon fiber, fiberglass, and similar abrasive non-metallic materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and power locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, matched collet or toolholder and torque the retention system per the toolholder manufacturer specification. This tool is non-centercutting — do not program direct plunge moves; use ramping or helical entry strategies where a full-depth entry is required.
