The HARVEY TOOL 13862 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and deep-cavity applications. Built with a 1/16 inch (0.0620 inch) mill diameter and a 3-flute spiral configuration, this single-end tool delivers a smooth finish in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The 30-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining cutting stability at small diameters. The bright/uncoated finish suits general-purpose finishing operations where coating is not required. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this style of miniature end mill for detailed profiling, slotting, and contour work in CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for finishing operations in both prototype and production environments. Its extra-long reach design, with a 1 inch reach length and 1/2 inch neck length, allows access to deep features and undercuts that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and tool holders used in vertical machining centers and high-speed spindles. Typical applications include mold and die work, aerospace component finishing, and precision part machining in steel and stainless steel. The long-flute geometry in the Miniature End Mills - Ball - Long Reach series targets close-tolerance finishing passes where surface quality is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style miniature ball end mill for use in standard 1/8 inch collets and tool holders on CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed milling spindles. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Verify collet runout before use, as excessive runout at small diameters will significantly reduce tool life and surface finish quality. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the tool diameter, and consult the manufacturer's speed and feed tables for optimal cutting parameters. Handle miniature carbide end mills carefully to avoid chipping the flute edges prior to use.
