The HARVEY TOOL 13860 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision finishing operations in demanding machining environments. With a 0.06-inch mill diameter and a 0.5-inch length of cut, this single-end tool is built for fine-detail work in tight geometries and deep-cavity features. The three-flute, right-hand helical configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. An extended reach design with a 1.0-inch reach length and a 0.5-inch neck length allows access to features that standard-length tools cannot reach. Machinists and toolroom operators working on precision components rely on this geometry for accurate, repeatable results.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. The bright, uncoated carbide surface is appropriate for applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern, or where re-sharpening is anticipated. Its miniature diameter and extra-long reach geometry make it particularly useful in mold and die work, aerospace components, and medical device machining where narrow slots, contoured walls, or recessed pockets require controlled engagement at small diameters.
Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a straight-cylindrical 0.125-inch shank collet or holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 0.125-inch straight-cylindrical shank fully into a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece. At miniature diameters, excessive overhang beyond the specified reach length significantly increases deflection risk — keep the tool engaged at or within the stated reach length during operation.
