The HARVEY TOOL 10220 is a miniature solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision finishing operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. At 0.50 mm (0.0200 inches) in diameter, this single-end tool is built for micro-scale contouring, slotting, and profiling where tight tolerances are required. The 3-flute geometry supports efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. An amorphous diamond PVD coating reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive or high-speed cutting conditions. The 30-degree right-hand spiral helix provides smooth cutting action. This tool is used primarily by CNC machinists, mold makers, and precision fabricators working in production or prototype environments.
The 10220 is suited for finishing passes on non-ferrous metals including aluminum, copper alloys, composites, and similar materials classified under workpiece material code N. Its long-reach, long-flute configuration makes it appropriate for accessing deep pockets, complex 3D contours, and cavity work where standard-length tools cannot reach. The extended reach geometry and 0.2000-inch reach length allow the tool to work in confined geometries without sacrificing rigidity in the shank. It fits 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders commonly found on CNC machining centers and high-speed micro-milling spindles.
Designed as an OEM-style miniature ball end mill for use in CNC machining centers and high-speed micro-milling setups equipped with 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Intended for finishing operations on non-ferrous metal workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and at rest before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. At this diameter, runout control is critical — verify TIR with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will break a tool of this size immediately.
