The HARVEST LANE HONEY WWER-101 is a beehive entrance reducer designed to fit across the front entrance of a standard Langstroth-style hive body. It gives beekeepers control over how much access the hive entrance allows, which directly affects colony defense, temperature retention, and pest pressure. The WWER-101 offers three positions: mid access, small access, and complete restriction. Each package contains 10 reducers. Installation requires no tools and no hive disassembly. This is a standard beekeeping supply item used by hobbyists and commercial apiarists alike.
Entrance reducers serve a critical role during several key beekeeping scenarios. Cold weather demands a reduced opening to help the colony maintain cluster temperature. When introducing a new queen or installing a nucleus colony, a smaller entrance limits the number of guard bees needed to defend the hive and reduces robbing pressure from outside colonies. The WWER-101 is also used during hive transportation to block the entrance entirely, keeping foragers contained and preventing escape during transit. Inclement weather conditions are another common application, reducing drafts and rain intrusion at the hive opening.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement entrance reducer for standard beehive setups. Verify entrance width against your hive body before installation.
Entrance reducers are installed and removed by hand with no tools required. Place the reducer flush against the front entrance of the hive bottom board, selecting the appropriate position for the current management need. Remove or reposition the reducer as seasonal conditions and colony strength change. Always check that the reducer is seated securely before moving or transporting a hive.
