The HARCO 69-3109D is a 1-1/4 inch socket fusion coupling made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for cold and potable water service applications. This black HDPE coupling joins two sections of same-diameter HDPE pipe using a heat-fusion process that creates a fully leak-free, monolithic joint with no mechanical fasteners or adhesives. Licensed plumbers and water service contractors install this fitting on buried or above-grade water distribution lines where corrosion resistance and long-term joint integrity are required.
The 69-3109D is suited for residential and light commercial water service installations including main water supply lines, irrigation systems, and utility service laterals. Socket fusion couplings are a standard fitting type in HDPE piping systems where joints must match the pressure and flow characteristics of the pipe itself. This coupling is designed for use with 1-1/4 inch IPS or DIPS HDPE pipe appropriate to the socket dimension.

Socket fusion joints must be made using a properly sized fusion tool heated to the temperature specified for HDPE socket fusion per ASTM F2620 procedures. Shut off and depressurize the water line completely before cutting into an existing system. Allow the fused joint to cool fully under the time and conditions required before returning the line to service. This work is typically performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes referencing IPC or applicable state standards.
