The HALEX/SCOTT FETZER 98615 is a steel zinc-plated reducing washer supplied in a 2-pack. It is used to reduce the size of a knockout opening in a metal electrical box, enclosure, or cabinet, allowing a smaller conduit fitting to seat securely in a larger knockout. Each washer measures 2 inches outer diameter by 1-1/2 inches inner diameter. The zinc plating provides corrosion resistance in typical indoor and protected outdoor installations. Electricians install these washers during conduit rough-in or panel work when the available knockout does not match the conduit trade size being used.
These reducing washers are designed for use with rigid metal conduit (RMC) and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) installations. They are a standard solution when working with metal boxes, junction boxes, pull boxes, enclosures, and cabinets that require knockout size reduction. Each washer is secured in place by a pair of locknuts, one on each side of the wall, to create a tight, mechanically sound connection. This 2-pack format is well suited for single-knockout jobs or keeping a spare on hand during service calls.
Designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit fittings installed in metal boxes, enclosures, and cabinets requiring knockout size reduction from 2 inches to 1-1/2 inches.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the enclosure or panel before working on any knockout. Seat the reducing washer into the knockout opening and secure it with a locknut on each side of the enclosure wall, tightening firmly by hand and then snugging with a locknut wrench or strap wrench. Do not overtighten locknuts on thin-gauge enclosure walls, as distortion of the knockout edge can compromise the mechanical connection.
