The HALEX/SCOTT FETZER 26820 is a zinc plated steel reducing washer that steps down a 3/4 inch knockout opening to accept a 1/2 inch conduit fitting. Sold in a pack of four, these washers are designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) installations. The zinc plating provides corrosion resistance suited to standard indoor and protected outdoor electrical enclosures. Electricians reach for reducing washers when a panel, junction box, or enclosure has a knockout that is one trade size larger than the fitting being installed. Each washer seats flat in the knockout and creates a secure, code-acceptable transition between the two trade sizes.
These reducing washers are used in residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work wherever rigid or IMC conduit terminates at an enclosure. Common applications include load centers, pull boxes, meter sockets, and equipment enclosures where mixed knockout sizes are present. The 4-pack format is practical for service calls and rough-in work where multiple boxes may require the same size reduction on a single job.
Designed for use with rigid metal conduit and intermediate metal conduit (IMC) fittings requiring a 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch knockout reduction at electrical enclosures.
Reducing washers are installed by licensed electricians in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize the enclosure and verify zero voltage before opening any panel or junction box. Seat the washer flat in the knockout opening before threading the conduit fitting through. Inspect the washer for burrs or deformation prior to installation to ensure a flush, secure fit.
