The HALEX/SCOTT FETZER 22221 is a 1/2 inch EMT compression coupling designed to join two sections of electrical metallic tubing in conduit runs where moisture and concrete encasement are concerns. Constructed from die cast zinc, this coupling meets rain-tight and concrete-tight standards, making it suitable for wet locations and direct embed applications. Each package contains 5 couplings, sold as a unit with individual UPC coding. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors install this fitting as part of branch circuit or feeder conduit systems in both new construction and retrofit work.
This coupling is used in residential and commercial electrical installations where 1/2 inch EMT conduit is the raceway of choice. Typical applications include exterior wall runs exposed to weather, underground slab pours where conduit must be embedded in concrete, and interior wet-location conduit runs such as mechanical rooms and crawl spaces. The compression-style connection does not require set screws, providing a secure, tool-assisted mechanical and electrical bond between conduit sections.
Designed as an OEM-style compression coupling for use with standard 1/2 inch electrical metallic tubing (EMT) conduit per ANSI/UL listings for EMT fittings.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 358 governing EMT conduit systems. De-energize all circuits in the raceway before making or breaking conduit connections. Compression couplings require a conduit wrench or strap wrench to achieve proper torque on the compression nut — do not over-tighten, as die cast zinc threads can strip. When embedding in concrete, verify the fitting is rated concrete-tight and seal all open conduit ends before the pour to prevent debris intrusion.
