The HALEX 96843 is a plated steel reducing washer designed to center conduit connectors, conduit bodies, and nipples within oversize knockouts in electrical enclosures and junction boxes. The concave construction seats securely against the knockout edge, creating a stable, flush fit that eliminates movement during installation. These washers are used in pairs, with one washer placed on each side of the box wall at the knockout opening. The 96843 reduces a 1-1/4 inch knockout to accept 1 inch fittings. Each pack contains 2 washers. UL listed for use in standard electrical installations.
Reducing washers are a common service item on commercial and residential electrical work wherever conduit enters panels, junction boxes, or enclosures through knockouts that are larger than the fitting being installed. Electricians use these washers when retrofitting older equipment, reusing existing knockouts, or working with enclosures that have limited knockout size options. Designed as an OEM-style replacement reducing washer for use with rigid and intermediate metal conduit fittings installed in standard 1-1/4 inch electrical enclosure knockouts requiring reduction to 1 inch.
Reducing washers are installed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC requirements for conduit entry into enclosures. De-energize all circuits and verify lockout/tagout procedures are complete before opening any panel or enclosure. Install one washer on each side of the knockout wall with the concave face seated against the box surface, then tighten the conduit connector or locknut to clamp both washers in place. Do not use a single washer alone, as the paired installation is required for proper mechanical support and code compliance.
