The HAILIANG HLG15-657-0050 is a 1/2-inch copper union fitting with a solder-joint, copper-by-copper (CxC) connection. Unions allow a section of copper tubing to be disconnected and reconnected without cutting the line, making them an essential fitting for service access points in domestic water, hydronic heating, and light commercial plumbing systems. Constructed from copper, this union provides corrosion resistance and reliable joint integrity when properly sweated. The fitting has an outside diameter (OD) of 5/8 inches, consistent with standard 1/2-inch copper tube sizing. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a break-union connection point is required.
This union is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where 1/2-inch copper tubing is routed to fixtures, appliances, or equipment that may require future servicing. Common applications include water heater connections, boiler supply and return legs, and fixture shut-off bypasses. The CxC end connections require standard sweat-soldering with lead-free solder per applicable plumbing codes.
Designed as a standard CxC sweat union compatible with 1/2-inch nominal copper tubing, including Type K, Type L, and Type M copper tube used in potable water and hydronic plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes, using lead-free solder and flux rated for potable water service. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before cutting into any existing line or disassembling the union. Clean all mating surfaces with emery cloth and apply flux before sweating to ensure a leak-free joint. Pressure-test the assembly after soldering and before returning the system to service.
