The GWS 315250 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for both roughing and finishing operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built to Series 2045 specifications, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 37-degree medium helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The NF1 PVD coating enhances wear resistance and is optimized for non-ferrous metals as the primary workpiece material. With a submicron carbide grade and three spiral flutes, this tool delivers precise material removal in a compact, single-end configuration. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the typical end users.
The GWS 315250 is suited for milling non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and copper alloys, as well as cast iron, superalloys, and titanium in secondary applications. It fits standard machining centers and CNC mills using a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance. The 2.5 inch overall length makes it a practical choice for general-purpose contouring, profiling, and slot milling where a ball-nose geometry is required. It is rated for both roughing and finishing passes, reducing the need for tool changes during a single operation.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with a standard 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical collet or toolholder. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal; secondary compatible materials include cast iron, superalloys, and titanium.
Install and remove tooling only after the machine spindle has come to a complete stop and the machine is in a locked-out, de-energized state following applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Consult the machine manufacturer's feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material before beginning the operation.
