The GWS 314520 is a single-end, corner radius end mill engineered for precision material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, it carries a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. The cutting diameter is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inches) with a 0.01-inch corner radius that adds edge strength and reduces chipping at the cutting perimeter. Three right-hand helical flutes with a high helix angle and coarse pitch promote efficient chip evacuation during aggressive passes. This tool is centercutting, so it can plunge directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled entry point.
The 314520 is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills handling non-ferrous metal stock in light manufacturing, job shop, and production environments. With a long-length configuration, a 5/8-inch (0.75-inch) length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length, it reaches into deeper pockets and slots where standard-length tools fall short. The straight-cylindrical, h6-tolerance shank fits standard end mill holders without modification. This is a roughing-duty tool rated for high material removal rates in non-ferrous applications.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials including aluminum, copper, and brass alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Verify the shank is fully seated and the set screw or collet is torqued per the holder manufacturer specifications. Confirm feed rate, speed, and depth-of-cut parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine before initiating a cut.
