The GWS 311927 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built on the Series 2205 platform, this single-end tool features a 5-flute geometry with a 38-degree helix angle and an AlCrO-MAX coating that extends tool life in demanding cutting environments. The chipbreaker design helps manage chip evacuation during deep cuts, making this mill well-suited for shops running aggressive material removal rates. The shank diameter is 1 inch with an h6 tolerance for accurate tool holding, and the overall length is 7 inches.
This end mill is applicable across a broad range of materials, including high-temperature alloys, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, non-metallic materials, steel, and stainless steel, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute, upcut tool with a standard length classification and a 4.25-inch length of cut, making it suitable for deep-pocket and side-milling operations in production machining, tool rooms, and job shops. The square shank is compatible with standard milling chucks and collet holders.
Designed for use with materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S, including high-temperature alloys, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, non-metallic materials, steels, and stainless steels. Compatible with standard 1-inch-bore milling chucks, collet holders, and hydraulic holders accepting a 1-inch square shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and spindle locked before tool changes. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout after installation before beginning a cut. Consult the machine tool and tooling manufacturer guidelines for appropriate feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material.
