The GWS 311800 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 2205 specifications, it features a 0.75-inch mill diameter, a 2.25-inch length of cut, and a 5-flute geometry that improves chip evacuation and surface finish compared to standard 4-flute tools. The 38-degree right-hand helix angle promotes efficient cutting action and reduces chatter during aggressive passes. An AlCrO-MAX coating provides oxidation resistance and thermal hardness, extending tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals working in production and job-shop settings.
The GWS 311800 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals in applications that require a long reach relative to diameter. The 2.25-inch length of cut and 5-inch overall length make it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in deeper cavities or tall workpiece features. The submicron carbide grade and AlCrO-MAX coating make it a strong choice for hardened steels, stainless steel, and other abrasion-prone materials where tool wear is a primary concern.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill in the GWS Series 2205 product line, compatible with standard 0.75-inch diameter collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the toolholder is torqued to the machine manufacturer's specification before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before each use, as carbide end mills are brittle and should not be dropped or impacted. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and depth of cut.
