The GWS 311582 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and five flutes with variable index and variable helix geometry. The long-length design delivers a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute spiral are standard. The submicron carbide grade supports both roughing and finishing operations in demanding materials. It is sized for standard end mill toolholders with a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance.
This end mill is suited for machining shops, tool rooms, and production environments working in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The corner radius geometry reduces chipping at the cutting edge and extends tool life in interrupted cuts and high-feed applications. The long flute length accommodates deeper axial engagement without requiring extended-reach tooling. Variable helix and variable index design help reduce harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry as part of a milling strategy.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by machinists using standard end mill toolholders sized for a 3/8 inch shank. Confirm toolholder runout and clamping torque per toolholder manufacturer specifications before use. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
