The GWS 311550 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes configured in a right-hand spiral with variable helix and variable index geometry. The 1 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length make it suited to a range of slotting, profiling, and contouring operations where both roughing and finishing passes are required in a single tool. Machinists and tool and die professionals install this end mill into standard end mill toolholders for CNC or manual milling operations.
This end mill is built primarily for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability in cast iron. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as peripheral cutting. The submicron carbide grade and Series 2205 platform position this tool for high-performance applications where tool life and surface finish consistency matter. It is appropriate for production shop environments, aerospace component work, and precision toolroom use where tight tolerances on corner geometry are required.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Shank diameter is 3/8 inch with h6 tolerance.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following standard tool change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path is cleared before seating or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify toolholder runout is within acceptable limits for the application before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute carbide tools. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and shop-standard feeds and speeds for the workpiece material being cut.
