The GWS 311401 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron applications. Built to Series 2205 standards, it features a 3/16 inch mill diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius and 5 flutes ground from submicron carbide grade stock. The FX3 AlCr coating provides high-temperature wear resistance suited to harder workpiece materials. With variable helix and variable index geometry, this tool reduces chatter and improves surface finish during both roughing and finishing passes. It is intended for use in end mill toolholders with straight-cylindrical shank interfaces.
This end mill is suited for precision machining operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The long-length flute configuration and 3/4 inch length of cut allow access to deeper features while maintaining rigidity at the 3/16 inch diameter. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand spiral tool compatible with standard end mill toolholders. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and contour milling in aerospace, toolroom, and general metalworking environments where corner radius geometry is required to reduce stress concentration at part edges.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is cast iron. Shank diameter tolerance is h6 for precise toolholder fit.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder collet or chuck to the manufacturer-specified minimum engagement depth before operating. Verify spindle direction matches the right-hand cutting specification before initiating a cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear prior to each use, particularly when running superalloys or titanium at elevated surface footage.
