The GWS 310776 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 0.06 inch corner radius and a 3/8 inch length of cut, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes. The four-flute, right-hand helical design with variable helix and variable index geometry reduces harmonics and chatter during aggressive cuts. At 4 inches overall length with a 3/4 inch reach, this end mill provides extended reach capability without sacrificing rigidity. The FX3 coating classification and submicron carbide grade support performance in hard and abrasive workpiece materials.
This end mill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. It is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into a workpiece as well as perform peripheral and slot milling operations. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard end mill holders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills. It is classified as a short-length-type tool, favoring rigidity in tight setups where deflection control is critical. Machinists working in aerospace, tool-and-die, and general metalworking will find this a capable all-around cutter for ferrous and exotic alloy work.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is cast iron. The 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits precision collet chucks and end mill holders sized for 1/4 inch tooling.
This tool is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician using a compatible end mill holder or collet chuck; confirm holder bore diameter matches the 1/4 inch shank before mounting. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before inserting or removing the cutter. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, particularly after machining superalloys or hardened steels.
