The GWS 310729 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 2105 specifications, it features a 3/16 inch mill diameter, a 1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length. The AlCrO-MAX coating provides enhanced heat resistance and extended tool life in high-speed cutting environments. With 4 flutes and a 38-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It is a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, suitable for a wide range of workpiece materials including ferrous alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys.
The GWS 310729 is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines across job shop, aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing environments. Its submicron carbide grade and AlCrO-MAX coating make it appropriate for dry or semi-dry cutting conditions where heat buildup is a concern. The extended reach geometry expands its usefulness in deeper pocket and shoulder milling operations where standard-reach tools cannot reach the workpiece adequately.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill compatible with CNC and manual milling machine tool holders accepting a 3/16 inch square shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance. Suitable for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify that the tool holder collet or set-screw bore matches the 3/16 inch shank diameter and h6 tolerance class before clamping. Follow the machine manufacturer's recommended runout tolerance and clamping torque specifications for the tool holder in use.
