The GWS 310628 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1-1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. With 4 flutes, a variable helix, and a variable index geometry, this end mill is optimized for both roughing and finishing operations. The FX3-class AlCr coating provides thermal resistance and hardness suited to aggressive cuts in difficult-to-machine materials. It is a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank and a 4-1/2 inch overall length.
This end mill is built for ferrous and exotic material machining in CNC milling centers. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It also performs in cast iron applications. The short flute length and rigid solid carbide construction make it well suited for side milling, profiling, and slotting passes where chatter control and edge integrity are critical. The tool mounts in standard end mill holders and is appropriate for production environments running high-speed or high-feed programs on vertical or horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is compatible with collet chucks and hydraulic holders sized for a 1-1/4 inch bore.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Verify holder bore size and runout before seating the tool. Confirm correct cutting direction settings in the CNC program before first engagement. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed-rate parameters for the target workpiece material.
