The GWS 310328 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. With a 0.5 inch diameter, a 0.09 inch corner radius, and four helical flutes featuring a variable helix and variable index geometry, this tool reduces chatter and improves surface finish across both roughing and finishing operations. The long-reach 1.625 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length make it well suited for deep-cavity and side-milling work. It is used by machinists and CNC operators in precision machining environments where tool life and consistency in difficult materials are the priority.
The 310328 is built for shops running ferrous and high-temp alloy workpieces. Its variable helix and variable index design help manage harmonics during heavy cuts in steel and stainless steel, while the submicron carbide grade supports elevated cutting speeds in superalloys and titanium. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures a secure, repeatable fit in standard end mill holders. Cast iron is listed as a secondary workpiece material, giving this tool added versatility on the shop floor for general metalworking applications.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Straight cylindrical shank diameter of 0.5 inch with h6 tolerance provides a precise fit in collet chucks and hydraulic or shrink-fit holders rated for that shank size. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary material is cast iron.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tooling. Always follow your machine tool manufacturer's guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut when working with solid carbide end mills in hard or exotic alloys.
