The GWS 310279 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 0.12 inch corner radius, and 4 flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The 5/8 inch length of cut and short-length profile make it well suited for precision work in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron. The AlCr-based coating and submicron carbide grade support both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary end users.

This end mill is built for use in production and job-shop environments where difficult-to-machine materials are common. The variable helix geometry reduces chatter and harmonic vibration, improving surface finish and tool life on tight-tolerance parts. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance mounts directly into standard end mill toolholders. It is suited for horizontal and vertical machining centers running right-hand cutting operations. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for retention knobs and collet nuts.
