The GWS 310245 is a 4-flute, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It carries a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length with a matched 3/8 inch square shank. The AlCrO-MAX finish provides thermal and oxidation resistance, extending tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The 38-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the centercutting geometry allows for direct plunge entry into the workpiece. Machinists and toolroom technicians use this end mill in CNC and manual milling operations where tight tolerances and consistent finish quality are required.
The GWS 310245 is suited for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys. Its upcut flute design with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction makes it a standard choice for conventional and climb milling passes on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The Series 2100 designation places it in GWS tooling lines aimed at general-purpose and moderate-to-high-hardness workpiece materials across job shop and production environments.
Designed for use with standard 3/8 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Compatible workpiece material codes per input data include H, K, M, N, P, and S classifications, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, low-carbon steels, and superalloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before spindle engagement. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear at regular intervals, especially when machining abrasive or hardened materials.
