The GWS 310029 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.010 inch corner radius, and four flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with variable helix and variable index geometry. The 3/4 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length suit it for slotting, profiling, and finishing operations in tight-tolerance work. Its submicron carbide grade and AlCr-based coating make it suitable for high-wear-resistance requirements. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in job shops, production machining environments, and toolroom settings.
This end mill is rated for primary use in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability in cast iron. It is a single-end, centercutting design, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot cutting. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard end mill toolholders and collet chucks. The Series 2100 designation from GWS indicates a geometry optimized for both roughing and finishing passes, making it a versatile choice where tool changes need to be minimized.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application in cast iron. The 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance is compatible with ER collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic chucks sized for 1/8 inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully to the minimum clamping depth recommended for the holder type to prevent pullout under cutting loads. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's runout specification, as submicron carbide tools are sensitive to excessive TIR at small diameters.
