The GWS 122937 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 1040 platform, it features a 3/4 inch mill diameter, a 2-1/4 inch length of cut, and 7 flutes with a variable 38-degree helix angle. The nACRo coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in difficult materials. This single-end tool uses a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction with a square shank, making it straightforward to fixture in standard end mill holders. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals operating CNC machining centers or manual mills.
The GWS 122937 is suited for full-slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where extended tool life and chip evacuation are priorities. The 7-flute geometry increases the number of cutting edges on a 3/4 inch diameter tool, improving material removal rates in finishing and semi-finishing passes. The variable helix design helps reduce harmonic chatter during cuts. With a 5 inch overall length and standard length classification, this end mill fits typical production and job-shop milling setups where reach requirements are moderate.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide square end mill compatible with 3/4 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders used on CNC machining centers and conventional knee mills.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety protocols. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clean in the toolholder before tightening to manufacturer torque specifications for the holder type in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator after fixturing to protect edge integrity on carbide tooling. This tool is intended for use by qualified machinists familiar with cutting parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
