The GWS 122913 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built to Series 1040 standards, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter with a 0.12 inch corner radius, 7 flutes, and a 2 inch length of cut. The 4 inch overall length and straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank with h6 tolerance make it compatible with standard end mill toolholders. Variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic chatter during finishing passes. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance required when cutting steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and hard materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this configuration for precision contour and profile work where corner integrity is critical.
This end mill is suited for finishing applications in CNC machining centers and manual mills across job shops, tool rooms, and production environments. Its long-reach geometry and close pitch make it effective for deep cavity work and shoulder finishing where a standard-length tool cannot reach. The centercutting design allows plunge entry when the application requires it. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, with stainless steel as a rated secondary material. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting rotation are standard for conventional vertical and horizontal machining setups.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Rated for steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, hard material, and stainless steel workpieces per manufacturer material application data.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before engaging the cut, as excessive runout on a 7-flute finishing tool accelerates uneven flute wear.
