The GWS 122833 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 0.015-inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life at sharp corners. With 7 flutes and a variable helix and variable index geometry, this end mill minimizes harmonic vibration during cutting, improving surface finish. The FX1 coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability. This tool is intended for use in end mill holders with a straight-cylindrical shank held to h6 tolerance.
This end mill is engineered for finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The close pitch, 7-flute configuration supports higher feed rates while maintaining finish quality in these tough materials. It is a single-end, center-cutting design, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece where the operation requires. Machinists running CNC machining centers in job shop, aerospace, die-and-mold, and general metalworking environments will find this tool well-suited to precision finishing passes where corner geometry and surface integrity are critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Straight-cylindrical shank with h6 diameter tolerance ensures a secure, precise fit in collet chucks and end mill holders sized for 0.5-inch shanks. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per Series 1040 application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following machine tool manufacturer torque and runout specifications for end mill holders. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or removing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and holder runout with a dial indicator before commencing cuts. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or axial engagement for finishing end mills in hard materials, as overloading a high-flute-count tool can cause sudden tool failure.
