The GWS 121566 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life on difficult materials. The 4-flute, variable helix geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance needed when cutting steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. A straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures secure, precise clamping in standard end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in job shop, production, and aerospace machining environments. The short flute length and single-end centercutting geometry make it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and plunging in tight workpiece features. The variable index and variable helix design help suppress chatter during aggressive cuts, making it a practical choice for both manual mills and CNC machining centers.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is stainless steel. Suited for Series 1030 GWS tooling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, particularly when machining superalloys or hard materials where tool deflection can cause rapid edge failure.
