The GWS 121560 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on a submicron carbide grade, it features a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) mill diameter, a 0.005 inch corner radius, and 4 helical flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. The variable helix and index design reduces harmonic chatter during cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. At 2 inches overall length with a 5/8 inch (7.92 mm) length of cut, this is a short-series tool suited for rigid setups. It is single-end, center-cutting, and right-hand cutting with a straight cylindrical shank held to an h6 shank diameter tolerance.
This end mill is rated for roughing and finishing operations on steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, hard materials, and stainless steel. The short-series geometry and solid carbide construction make it appropriate for CNC milling centers, vertical machining centers, and high-speed spindle applications where tool deflection must be minimized. It is intended for use with end mill holders. A normal pitch flute configuration keeps chip evacuation predictable across both roughing and finishing passes without a chipbreaker profile.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, K, S, H), with secondary compatibility for stainless steel (material code M). Series 1030.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The shank diameter is held to an h6 tolerance and should be seated fully and squarely in the end mill holder before tightening to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and corner radius for chips or wear before mounting. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so flood or mist coolant should be directed at the cutting zone externally if used.
