The GWS 121496 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Built to a 1/2 inch diameter with a 0.015 inch corner radius and 4 flutes, this single-end, centercutting tool delivers both roughing and finishing capability in a single pass. The right-hand spiral flute geometry and variable helix angle reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation on difficult materials. With an overall length of 3 inches and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, it fits standard end mill toolholders and suits a wide range of CNC and manual milling setups. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for steel, cast iron, superalloys, and hard materials.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both production and job-shop environments. The corner radius geometry reduces edge chipping and extends tool life compared to square-end tools, making it a practical choice for semi-finish and finish profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling where sharp inside corners are not required. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits precision end mill toolholders for secure, repeatable runout control.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary material is stainless steel.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully into a compatible end mill toolholder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
