The GWS 121462 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 0.015 inch corner radius, and five flutes in a variable helix, variable index geometry, this tool is built to reduce chatter and improve surface finish in both roughing and finishing operations. The FX1 coating classification and submicron carbide grade provide wear resistance and edge retention at elevated cutting temperatures. It runs as a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction, making it compatible with standard end mill toolholders.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance profiling, slotting, and contouring are required. The 0.015 inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in aggressive cuts through hardened steels and exotic alloys. It is appropriate for job shops, aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining environments. The straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures a secure, repeatable grip in collet chucks and end mill holders.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium (P, K, S, H material codes); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (M code). Series 1035.
Installation is performed by machinists using collet chucks or end mill holders rated for the 0.5 inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly torqued in the holder before initiating any cut. Verify runout at the tool tip after installation to protect edge integrity on tight-tolerance operations. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and shop safety protocols when handling and changing carbide cutting tools.
