The GWS 120975 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding material removal in steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 1/2 inch diameter with a 2 inch length of cut and a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in high-load applications. Built from submicron carbide grade stock and finished with an FX1 coating, this single-end tool handles both roughing and finishing operations without a tool change. Machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and industrial manufacturing will find it suited to high-productivity programs.
The 120975 is used in vertical and horizontal machining centers for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and hard materials. Its 4 inch overall length and straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance make it compatible with standard end mill toolholders. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic chatter during deep-pocket and side-wall milling, making it a practical choice for finishing passes where surface finish matters as much as material removal rate. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material is stainless steel. Shank diameter tolerance is h6, suitable for precision collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and the tool changer disabled before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Verify holder bore and collet size match the 1/2 inch shank before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications to prevent premature tool failure or workpiece damage.
