The GWS 120486 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the Series 1030 platform, it features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry. These characteristics reduce harmonic vibration during cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. The submicron carbide grade provides the hardness and toughness needed for milling steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance ensures accurate, repeatable seating in standard end mill holders.
This end mill suits both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills where precise corner geometry and edge integrity are required. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction, making it appropriate for conventional climb milling strategies on ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. Typical applications include pocketing, profiling, and contouring on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials up to the tool's rated capacity.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary compatibility for stainless steel.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tools can fracture if run with pre-existing edge damage. Follow the tool manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific workpiece material to avoid premature tool failure.
