The GWS 103152 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling operations, particularly in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, three flutes, and a ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating that reduces built-up edge and improves tool life in aluminum alloys. The 37-degree right-hand helix promotes efficient chip evacuation, minimizing re-cutting and heat buildup. At 3 inches overall length with a 5/16 inch length of cut and 1-1/2 inch reach length, this tool suits both shallow and extended-reach applications. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace component production, and general metalworking environments.
The 103152 is part of the GWS Alumigator Series 1026, engineered specifically for cutting aluminum, aluminum alloys, and other non-ferrous materials. Its centercutting design allows plunge milling in addition to peripheral and slot milling. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration fits standard collet and end mill holders on vertical machining centers, CNC routers, and manual knee mills. The submicron carbide substrate and ZrN coating make this tool well-suited for finishing passes and high-speed machining strategies where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit tool for standard 3/16 inch collets and end mill holders used on vertical machining centers, CNC routers, and manual mills. Part of the GWS Alumigator Series 1026 product family.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as runout at small diameters accelerates tool wear and affects surface finish.
