The GWS 101018 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance aluminum machining. Part of the Alumigator Series 1025, it features a 3/4 inch mill diameter, a 2-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 37-degree helix angle optimized to clear chips efficiently in non-ferrous materials. The ZrN (zirconium nitride) coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum, brass, and similar alloys. Three right-hand flutes with an upcut flute geometry provide smooth cutting action and surface finish. The submicron carbide grade delivers toughness and edge retention across a range of milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments rely on this geometry for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in aluminum and non-ferrous stock.
The GWS 101018 is suited for single-end milling operations where a 3/4 inch shank and 5 inch overall length accommodate standard ER and side-lock toolholders on vertical machining centers, horizontal mills, and CNC routers. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, expanding its utility for pocket milling and ramp entry passes. This tool is a right-hand cutting, right-hand flute configuration, making it compatible with conventional CNC spindle direction. It is particularly well matched to aluminum extrusion, plate, and cast workpieces where chip evacuation and surface finish are critical priorities.
Designed for use in standard 3/4 inch ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and milling machines. Part of the GWS Alumigator Series 1025, optimized for aluminum and non-ferrous milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an E-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder to the minimum recommended gauge length before tightening to prevent runout. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines when securing collet nuts or set screws.
