The GUHRING 9069850158790 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built to Series 6985 specifications, it features a 5/8-inch mill diameter, five helical flutes, and a 0.12-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. The nano-A physical vapor deposition coating provides enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability, making this end mill well-suited for high-feed work in difficult-to-machine materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting tool with a medium-high helix and a Weldon flat shank for positive drive retention in end mill holders.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where precise corner radii and surface finish are required. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary applications cover non-ferrous metals and hard materials. The short-length geometry keeps deflection low in slotting and peripheral milling passes. It is installed in end mill holders and is appropriate for job shop, production, and tool room environments where a single tool must handle both roughing stock removal and finishing passes.
Designed for use with end mill holders. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium), with secondary compatibility for N (non-ferrous metal) and H (hard material) per ISO material classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat securely against the set screw in the end mill holder to prevent axial pullout under cutting loads. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation and before the first cut; excessive runout will accelerate corner radius wear and compromise finished surface geometry.
