The GUHRING 9064840095200 is a solid carbide square end mill from the Series 6484 line, designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and four helical flutes with a variable 38/40 degree helix angle. The variable helix geometry reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts, improving surface finish and tool life. An AlCrN coating provides oxidation resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting temperatures. This end mill is a single-end, center-cutting tool with a straight cylindrical shank, suitable for use on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills operated by skilled machinists or toolroom professionals.
This end mill is suited for milling high-alloy steels, tough alloys, and soft metals where tool rigidity and coating performance are critical. The extended reach design, with a reach length of approximately 1.29 inches and a 2.75 inch overall length, allows access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in aerospace, die-mold, and general precision machining environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle setups.
Rated for use in high-alloy steel, soft metal, and tough alloy applications per manufacturer material application data. Series 6484 designation. Compatible with standard 3/8 inch straight-shank tool holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit holders used on CNC machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC tooling setup and safe tool-change procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change mode before loading or unloading the tool. Secure the shank to the appropriate holding torque specified by the tool holder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on carbide tooling and reduce the effectiveness of the variable helix geometry.
