The GUHRING 9064080024000 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to Series 6408 standards, it features a 135-degree faceted point angle with web thinning for reduced entry force and improved centering accuracy. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-speed cutting conditions. At 0.0945 inches in diameter with a 62 mm overall length, this drill is sized for small-diameter, high-precision bores. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, supporting chip evacuation and heat management in deep-hole work. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This micro drill bit is suited for production and job-shop environments where tight tolerances and difficult materials are the norm. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and steel. Secondary applications cover aluminum and titanium alloys. The right-hand spiral flute geometry and tapered web configuration support consistent chip flow in blind and through-hole drilling. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard collet chucks and drill chucks without adapters. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 23.60 mm, reflecting the 8xD flute-by-diameter ratio built into the tool design.
Compatible with cast iron, stainless steel, and steel as primary workpiece materials; also rated for aluminum and titanium alloys as secondary workpiece materials. Fits machine tool spindles and CNC machining centers equipped with through-coolant capability and accepting a 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC or manual drilling operations. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant system are fully de-energized and depressurized before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and uniformly in the collet or chuck to the specified gripping length before torquing the clamping mechanism. Verify through-coolant pressure is within the machine and tool manufacturer's recommended operating range before initiating a cut.
