The GUHRING 9057340080000 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in metric applications. It cuts an M8x1.25 thread to a 6H class of fit with a D5 thread limit, making it suitable for close-tolerance work. The tap is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and carries an oxide finish for improved lubricity and wear resistance. With a 40-degree helix angle and a fast flute style, it evacuates chips efficiently out of the hole during the tapping cycle. Overall length is 90 millimeters with a thread length of 14 millimeters and a tapping depth of 35 millimeters. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and toolroom professionals specify this geometry for through-spindle or hand-tapping setups where chip packing is a concern.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading across a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a plug chamfer, which is useful in tight-clearance assemblies. The right-hand flute and right-hand thread configuration covers the most common production and maintenance tapping scenarios. Applicable materials include alloy steel, alloy tool steel, aluminum alloy, case-hardened steel, cast iron, ductile iron, free-cutting steel, heat-treated steel, malleable cast iron, stainless steel, structural steel, and tool steel.
Designed for use in standard M8x1.25 tapping applications across the listed material types including alloy steel, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, cast iron, and related ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Part of GUHRING Series 5734.
Install in a tap holder or tapping head sized for the 8.00 millimeter shank diameter; confirm the square drive engages the 6.20 millimeter square. Power down or lock out the machine before changing tooling. Use appropriate tapping fluid for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless or heat-treated steel. Verify blind hole depth against the 35.00 millimeter tapping depth before beginning the cycle to avoid bottoming out under load.
