The GUHRING 9057330040000 is a spiral point tap designed for right-hand through-hole threading in metric coarse applications. It cuts an M4 x 0.7 thread profile to a 6H class of fit with a D4 thread limit, delivering consistent dimensional accuracy on the threading pass. Built from cobalt high-speed steel with an oxide finish, it handles elevated cutting temperatures better than standard HSS tooling. The plug chamfer eases entry into through-holes by distributing the cutting load across the first several threads. Overall length is 2.4803 inches, thread length is 0.4724 inches, and shank diameter is 0.1772 inches. This tap belongs to GUHRING Series 5733 and carries three flutes for efficient chip evacuation.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance threading operations on through-hole features in a wide range of workpiece materials. It performs in aluminum, aluminum alloys, free-cutting steel, structural steel, heat-treatable steel, case-hardened steel, sulfured steel, tool steel, cast iron, and stainless steel. Typical applications include tapping threaded inserts, fastener holes, and component bores in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments. Coolant-through capability is not included, making it appropriate for conventional flood or mist cooling setups.
Designed for through-hole threading operations in workpiece materials including aluminum, aluminum alloys, cast iron, free-cutting steel, heat-treatable steel, case-hardened steel, stainless steel, structural steel, sulfured steel, and tool steel.
This tap is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians using standard tapping chucks, CNC rigid-tap holders, or manual tapping arms rated for M4 tooling. Before changing or setting tooling, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to maximize tap life and thread quality. Do not reverse the tap under power without confirming the machine cycle supports it, as forced reversal without proper chip clearance can result in tap breakage in the hole.
