The GUHRING 9055250061000 is a solid carbide extra length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It carries a 6.1 mm diameter with an h7 tolerance shank and features a 140-degree RT100 U point geometry that is self-centering and facet-ground for accurate entry without a center punch. The FIREX coating provides thermal and wear resistance for extended tool life in demanding production environments. With a 2-flute spiral design, coolant-through capability, and a web-thinned geometry, this bit is built for deep-hole drilling at a 12xD flute-to-diameter ratio. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die shops, and precision metalworking operations are the primary users.
This drill bit is suited for production and maintenance drilling in cast iron and steel as primary workpiece materials, and it is also rated for use in aluminum and titanium alloys as secondary materials. Its extra length makes it appropriate for applications requiring deep hole penetration where standard-length bits cannot reach. The 108 mm flute length supports chip evacuation over extended cutting depths, and the coolant-through design allows direct fluid delivery to the cutting zone, reducing heat buildup during long-duration passes. It is well suited to CNC machining centers and manual drill presses in both job shop and production settings.
Designed as a Series 5525 extra length drill bit per DIN 6537, suitable for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses where a straight-cylindrical shank with 8 mm shank diameter is accepted. Primary workpiece material codes K and P cover cast iron and steel; secondary material codes H, M, N, and S cover aluminum and titanium alloys as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a collet or drill chuck rated for the 8 mm shank diameter before engaging the workpiece. Confirm coolant-through passages are clear and that the machine spindle is at a full stop before mounting or removing the bit. Avoid side-loading or using the bit as a reamer, as carbide is brittle under lateral stress.
