The GUHRING 9055240125000 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit sized at 0.4921 inches (12.50 mm) diameter, built to DIN 1897 standards. Constructed from M35 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The four-facet split point geometry reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force, while the web-thinned, tapered-web construction improves chip evacuation. A bright uncoated finish keeps the surface neutral for use across a broad range of workpiece materials. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and production drilling operations are the primary users of this bit.
This drill bit is suited for stub-length drilling applications where a shorter flute and compact overall length provide added rigidity in high-feed or interrupted-cut conditions. Its primary workpiece material designation is aluminum, though the cobalt M35 grade also handles other non-ferrous and moderate-hardness ferrous materials well. The regular spiral flute and 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio support efficient chip clearing at typical production drilling depths. The maximum drilling depth is 1.2700 inches (32.25 mm). This bit fits standard drill chucks accepting a 12.50 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or production drill for use in standard drill chucks and CNC machining centers accepting a 12.50 mm straight-cylindrical shank, within the GUHRING Series 5524 drill bit family conforming to DIN 1897.
Installation and use of this drill bit should be performed by machinists or qualified tooling technicians familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits before commencing drilling, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and degrades hole tolerance. Always apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material being drilled.
