The GUHRING 9055240095200 is a cobalt stub-length (screw machine length) drill bit built to DIN 1897 standards for demanding precision drilling applications. Sized at 0.375 inches (3/8 inch) in diameter, the bit features a 118-degree four-facet split point that reduces walking and axial thrust at entry. Constructed from M35 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance beyond standard HSS tooling. A web-thinned, tapered-web design lowers cutting force and improves chip evacuation through the spiral flutes. The bright/uncoated finish is ready for use across a range of workpiece materials, with aluminum listed as the primary application material.
This bit is suited for production and job-shop environments where stub-length rigidity is preferred over longer drill geometries. The shortened flute length reduces deflection and chatter in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and handheld power tools where close-to-the-chuck reach is an advantage. With a maximum drilling depth of 1.131 inches (28.72 mm) and a flute-to-diameter ratio of 3xD, it is well matched to through-hole and blind-hole work in aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and general-purpose steel. The straight-cylindrical shank seats cleanly in standard drill chucks and collet systems without modification.
Designed as a Series 5524 DIN 1897 stub-length replacement drill bit; compatible with any standard drill chuck or collet system accepting a 9.53 mm (0.375 inch) straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with rotating cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet and verify runout before beginning a cut. Always wear appropriate eye protection and ensure the workpiece is firmly fixtured before drilling. Follow machine manufacturer speed and feed recommendations for cobalt tooling in the workpiece material being drilled.
